What is your name, age and where are you from?
My name is Anda Luvuyo Macuba, and I’m 25yrs old. I am from a small town in the Eastern Cape called Uitenhage.
What are you doing currently?
Last year I studied and graduated from Music Technology. So this year I’ve decided to persue anything that has to do with music.
How did you fall in love with music?
My whole family is blessed artistically, but I am the only one who actually persued music. I have always been surrounded by music – my dad used to make me play the trumpet in front of his friends and boast about how great I am. I am not even sure if I was playing it correctly! But at 13 I fully fell in love with music.
When did you start producing music? And how would you describe your style?
I was 13 when I produced my first beat. My style of music is soulful. I just do what comes to mind and what feels good; its more of an emotional thing.
What inspires the music you make?
I think it’s life in general and life experiences and other peoples experience.
What was your first thought when you received the call from Rémy Martin, letting you know that you were through to the regional finals?
I felt like it was the beginning of something that was long overdue. I have been waiting for this opportunity to happen. It’s been a long journey. I feel like this Is the beginning of good things to come.
How does it feel to have the opportunity to work with Riky Rick?
It feels amazing, it feels like a huge step forward into persuing what I want to persue and having someone of that stature grooming you, is the best opportunity ever.
How do you feel about performing on 26th of July in front of a live audience?
Nervous! But at the same time I feel positive no matter the outcome because I have already proved myself.
What can people look forward from you on the night?
They can expect the whole package, the music, the personality, the outfit, everything. I’m going In.
The next week is going to be a big one for you, what are you looking forward to most?
Mmm… I am looking forward to people finally giving me a chance to bless them with my music and craft. As an artist it’s quite hard to get people to listen to you and this competition will do just that – open up doors for me.
